The Fiscal council will be an Aruban institution in charge with the financial supervision of Aruba once CAFT Board of Financial Supervision terminates its term on the island.
Members of the new fiscal council will be appointed only by Aruba. The Netherlands will have no influence with the selection of the new members. This will give Aruba its financial autonomy back.
The Prime Minister also stated that the agreement with the Netherlands was that the CAFT would be replaced by the fiscal council at the end of the CAFT ’s term in 2021, and that the council will be completely in charge of the financial supervision.
Preparations for the realization of the fiscal council are ongoing and should be completed within a year.
