Financial agreement signed by the European Union and Aruba for SISSTEM projects at the University of Aruba

ORANJESTAD- On the 26th of March 2019, the Government of Aruba signed a Financial agreement with the EU for the financing of 13.05 million Euros for the Sustainable Island Solutions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (SISSTEM) at the University of Aruba.

LTR - Prime Minister mr. Evelyn Wever Croes, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Culture, mr. Xiomara Ruiz-Maduro, the Ambassador of the European Union Mr. Jernej Vedetic and the Minister of Education, Science and Sustainable Development, dr. A. LampeThe project consists of the creation of a new faculty at the University of Aruba in the field of Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The new faculty will offer a bachelor and master degree in sustainability, a PhD program and a research institute. The project also includes a renovated Maria Convent and the curriculum for the new program. The UNDP (United Nations Development Program) together with the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, are the 2 partners who will be executing the program. SISSTEM will provide new opportunities for the young students to attend the STEM faculty while stimulating innovation and diversity in the economy.
